Bathroom Remodel: Final Post

We are still missing the shower door (I ordered it earlier today), something to hang on the wall and new towels, but other than that we are all done with our bathroom remodel!

Reminder - Here is the before.

We haven't really used the bathroom yet because we still have not decided whether or not it is my bathroom or Kevin's.  Plus, it looks too nice to mess up.

Wall color  = Benjamin Moore Winter Lake (Its a little darker than I wanted, but oh well.)

Vanity light - Home Depot

Medicine Cabinet = Kohler Archer (Lowes).  It is recessed and the inside has a ton of mirrors.  Love it.

Vanity with pure white cultured marble top w/integrated sink.  Home Depot on clearance.  We totally lucked out finding this.  We could only have a vanity that is 18" deep (which are hard to find) and if we did a marble top (like I wanted too), finding a sink that would fit was complicated.  Also, you can't see this in the pictures, but the doors on the 2nd floor of our house are a dark stained birch that matches this vanity.  It coordinates well.

The faucet is Kohler Fairfax.

The towel ring and toilet paper holder are from Lowe's Allen & Roth line.

Subway tile and shelves from Home Depot, faucet is Kohler Fairfax.  Shower basin is Swanstone (solid surface material) in pure white.  It is such a tiny space (36" neo angle base) that tile was not worth it and would look busy.

Vent fan/light combo.

Lovely floor tile from The Tile Shop.  I must say that they are good to work with, except for the fact that they are pretty hardcore with their sales tactics.  Example: I went to buy grout and the total was over $100 because they added on some $60 grout additive.  Of course I had them remove it, but you have to be on your toes.  Overall I would say it is worth it to shop there because they have good selection, great displays, and let you return anything, even individual pieces.

The roman shade in the window is from JCPenney.  If you need a roman shade and have standard size windows, get over to their website NOW.  They have their shades on clearance, crazy clearance.  This was like $18.  I ordered 5 more for my bedroom.

(Excuse the masking tape, those are my dimensions for the shower door.)

We also did some updating to our other bathroom.

This may not look exciting to you, but it is to me.  We now have a functioning bathtub.  We used to have those little things you pop in the drain to catch the hair or plug the drain for baths.  They don't work that well.  Also, the bathtub didn't drain very well, which was annoying when showering.  Finally, when we were running the bath with a mix of cold and water, the water pressure would be too much for the water spout and cold water would start flying out of the shower head.  It was annoying and cold for my naked children.

My plumber put in a new drain thingy, new spout, new attachment to the shower head, and snaked the drain.  He found a very, very old toy in the pipes (obviously not from us - too old).  Now we are good.  Although Kevin noted that his feet seem less clean since he is no longer standing in a pool of water during his shower.
(Excuse the dirty grout, I obviously need to use the Magic Eraser on this room!)

We also had an old sink that was cracked and did not have any edge to set a curling iron or toothpaste tube.   See the old sink...bad.

New sink and faucet = Good.

Again with the Kohler stuff, Fairfax faucet and Archer sink. Gotta support our local business!

  3. Curious question- I'm looking at the Swanstone subway tile for my bathroom and am wondering how you like your's, since it's been 2 years since installation. Any regrets?
