Deep thoughts by Grace Malone

"Mom...if I am ever in a play where someone needs to play a vampire...I will definitely be the vampire."

Happy Birthday Gracie!

Oh Grace

Positively angelic at about three o'clock in the afternoon....

and by four o'clock, she was listening to Justin Timberlake and throwing down some crazy dance moves as only Grace can.

Jolly! Angel Prayer Service

At St. Jude, there is a prayer service the day before christmas break.  The first graders dress up in angel costumes complete with tinsel halos.  They sing songs and play an active role in the service.  It is ridiculously precious.  Really, could not be sweeter.

Happy Birthday from Grace

Today is the pastor at St. Jude's birthday.  Grace's homework was to make him a birthday card.

"Father Charlie, Happy Birthday. You are really good at singing. I like you as much as others."

That's funny, right? Who are the others and do you really like them Grace? Really?

Trip to Minocqua - Pictures of Grace

While in Minocqua, we got some cute photos of Gracie.  She is such a ham and loves the camera - can you tell?

Totally Loaded

I frequently have to talk to Grace about how constantly asking me questions and talking about nonsense makes it very hard for me to listen to anything she says.  I use the term "overloaded" a lot.

Well this week I was baking with the kids and they just would not stop with the constant questions.  This time Andrew was the culprit.

I said, "Andrew! Just please - "
And Grace interrupted with, "Andrew, mom is getting loaded right now.  You can't talk to her anymore."

This is what we were baking...a cake for PopPop's b-day.

Happy Birthday Grace!

Gracie turned 6 this past Wednesday. Grace is very sweet and is maturing so much.  She is such a big girl!  She is an amazing sister and could not be sweeter to everyone, even little Stinky Andrew.  She is kind and friendly, I frequently hear from other moms how Grace always says hi to them and gives them hugs!   She is trying so hard at school.  Her behavior at school is impeccable and her teachers are very complimentary of how well she plays with others and how hard is is concentrating on her school work.

Her birthday happened to be they day of her monthly Daisy Troop meeting, so I signed up to help that day.  The great moms that run the troop organized an amazing Easter egg hunt at a neighborhood home and the girls were totally not phased by the frigid weather.  They had a ball!  They even got to see the Easter Bunny and he taught them how to hop.

Then we had dinner out, at Gracie's choice of restaurant.  She only ate a tiny bit of her food, and later I figured out why...after she threw up all over the place in her sleep.  Poor thing, sick on her birthday!

Blue Steel

The other day Mae was in a good mood and the weather was beautiful.  So I thought I would go outside, take advantage of the late afternoon light and get some photos.  I was doing everything I could to get big smiles.  But, of course, I kept coming up with goofy looking shots like this Zoolander-esqe one.....
So I had to call in the big guns. Grace.
No one can get Mae to smile and laugh like Grace.  No one.

Grace's First Day of K5

Grace is back to school this week - and boy were we ready!  Last year, these were tearful days.  However this year, she is ready to go without any apprehension.  Way to go Gracie!

And we have our first playhouse injury

They were in the playhouse for literally 15 seconds and she injured herself...of course it was somehow Andrew's fault.

I guess we will wait until it is done before going back in.

School Work

Every day that Andrew goes to daycare, he comes home with a little sheet recording all of his daily accomplishments.  Such as who he played with, how many times he crapped his pants, and what he ate - I think his teachers LIE on this - the kid won't eat anything at home but he eats carrots at daycare...what? Although the kid naps at daycare and does not at home - so who knows?

He also comes home with projects.  This is supposed to be a dog.

I am thinking perhaps he had some help with this turtle...

And here we have a sampling of some of Grace's latest work.  She comes home with stacks every day.  And each of them has a sticker on it.  The kindergarten at her school is single-handedly keeping the sticker industry in business.

I love that she now draws real pictures.  The kind I remember drawing, with the sun in the corner, a blue line for the sky, etc.  So cute!

In case you can't see the comment or decipher the drawing, if Gracie were a farmer she would give a cow a bath.  Love that she chose cleaning something for her farmer duty!

Gracie's class has a letter of the week each week.  They make a little letter book and bring it home each Friday.  Each Friday I look at it and throw it away.  Apparently, I was supposed to be saving them all year and then create an alphabet book.  Whoops.
