A friendly visitor

A few weeks ago Patty the pug came to visit us.  I think she really enjoyed herself, or she enjoyed the royal feast that took place several times a day under Mae's high chair.

Mae also enjoyed the feast that was available in the dog bowls.  EWWWW.  And actually a few weeks after Patty left, I caught Mae pulling dog treats out from behind the baseboard radiators and trying to eat them!  Oh well, at least it kept her occupied for a bit.

Patty may have been well fed, but she did get a little bit of abuse at the hands of Miss Mae.  Patty is forever on my good side for putting up with Mae's headbutting and hair pulling.

And another one I couldn't get to load for some reason - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGx8fWF6qnU&NR=1&feature=endscreen

Birthday Fun!

Celebrating Grace's 6th and Mae & Ben's 1st Birthdays!

The Decor ~ Rainbow themed

Super easy, cute decorations.  Mason jars with jelly beans and a gerbera daisy.

We had a great turnout, including our youngest guest.  Baby James and JuJu were comparing their stripes.

Strategizing....
The party was a great success and everyone had a ton of fun.  But for me, one of the big highlights was that Andrew finally ate some cake.  Finally!  He only had 2 bites, but I was able to catch it on camera.

Mae didn't quite know what to do with her cake...but she figured it out!

Another one of my favorite moments was when Ben kept stealing Mae's cake.  It was soooo cute!

Grace was a good sport sharing her birthday with the little babies and she enjoyed having the biggest cupcake of all.

Happy Birthday Grace!

Gracie turned 6 this past Wednesday. Grace is very sweet and is maturing so much.  She is such a big girl!  She is an amazing sister and could not be sweeter to everyone, even little Stinky Andrew.  She is kind and friendly, I frequently hear from other moms how Grace always says hi to them and gives them hugs!   She is trying so hard at school.  Her behavior at school is impeccable and her teachers are very complimentary of how well she plays with others and how hard is is concentrating on her school work.

Her birthday happened to be they day of her monthly Daisy Troop meeting, so I signed up to help that day.  The great moms that run the troop organized an amazing Easter egg hunt at a neighborhood home and the girls were totally not phased by the frigid weather.  They had a ball!  They even got to see the Easter Bunny and he taught them how to hop.

Then we had dinner out, at Gracie's choice of restaurant.  She only ate a tiny bit of her food, and later I figured out why...after she threw up all over the place in her sleep.  Poor thing, sick on her birthday!

Staying positive

I am trying really hard to be a more positive person. Fighting the urge to have "a glass half empty" viewpoint and recognizing that really my glass is overflowing and I can tend to complain about the mess that overflow is making.

So instead of complaining about the weather I have decided to simply pretend that we live in Alaska. I assume this weather would be pretty nice for Alaska.

So I took the kids to the park, you know pretending to enjoy this nice Alaskan weather. It wasn't cold, it was refreshing! (I am really trying.)

2 reasons why I love Grace

1.  She was so excited about the new Pope.  She said, "Yea! Pope Francis!  Guess what mom?  We saw a VIDEO of the new Pope! And he talks kind of Mexican."

2. While I was trying on jeans today (always super fun) Grace kept walking in front of the mirror an posing so I gave her my phone.  I guess she occupied her time by taking pictures of herself.  This one is my favorite.
